Damon and I want to invite you guys up here to see some truly picturesque waterfalls. I mean, that one wasn’t bad…but we have lots of really amazing ones here in the Gorge. Seriously. You guys should come next summer! Although, you and your kids would put our sorry hiking selves to shame.

Jenny, you’re doing an awful lot of gleaming in there :). But what I’d really like to know is how did she do that without looking at the camera ONCE? Is she just that comfortable with the camera? Because my kids always drop what they’re doing and start hamming whenever I try to catch candids.

Wow Brooks family! I am so impressed with you! Running marathons, hiking, soccer, other sports, piano, home schooling, lots of outdoor adventures. . . I love that you fully enjoy life!

I didn’t know the Boston marathon could get sold out. I thought once you qualify, you can go. Interesting.

Libby, so cool that you are snowboarding! McKay nice job on becoming a Cub Scout! Caden, I had no idea you were such a strong gymnast,you look dynamite on the rings! Abby, what a great singer you are! We just found out Taylor Swift spent Christmas here in Turks and Caicos. If I would have known you all were such big fans I would have tried to score an autograph! Happy New Year Brooks! Yes, Jen trying to plan for a cross N. American country bike trip in the summer but won’t know dates until April or May maybe? Will keep you posted, but let us know if a particular month for a Wy reunion is looking better than others for you all.

I like that Lane sums up four months of marathon training in 6 sentences! It was a great race and I really enjoyed it. It was better than I expected it to be (and I am secretly looking forward to Boston). It’s like child birth - I’ve already forgotten how much training sucked!

How cute! Claire is on way overdose of princess these days. She asked me to start giving her more chores so that she can be Cinderella. I obliged, and then she started screaming at me about how unfair I am and how she can’t wait for Prince Charming. Is this what I have in store for me for the next 15 years? I’m going to make a reservation for a psychiatric unit now. I’m going to be in UT for exactly 2 days — Aug 9th (get in), Aug 10th (all day), Aug. 11th, leave early. Promised Cristie we’d stop by on the way back to NM from MT. So we HAVE to have a gettogether. Told Cristie we have to do a Las Vegas trip this fall/winter. Plan it. I’ll be there.

Fall is when I miss Utah the most! No leaves changing colors on the cactus down here… However, we did dip into the 80’s. My kids even considered wearing pants instead of shorts this week.

I have a apple tree sitting in the front yard that is loaded with apples. You are welcome to come and pick as many as you would like. One neighbor came and pick some to make apple cider.

I loved the story. I am sitting here in Indonesia and it is flat as a pancake. There isn’t a mountain to be seen anywhere.

Oi! I think I’m too lazy to potty train Claire. She’ll have to show some serious ambition for me to venture into that land. Cort is also being pushy about it like Lane has been. I think after three kids, I’ve finally learned that it’s kindof confusing about which is “easier” for the mom — changing a couple rancid diapers a day, or racing to a restaurant while walking on the street and begging the owner/hostess/jerk to let us use the bathroom while bribing the child with all manner of candy/treats to HOLD IT!!! Or worse dealing with all the horrible car seat “accidents” and having so much clean up. Anyway, on that happy note, GOOD LUCK!!!!

I can’t believe Abby is two. Sooooooo! She doesn’t like to have her hair
brushed? Maybe she takes after Granma Leila’s sister. Meeeee! When Granma Leila used to brush my hair I would screammmmmmm! Ask her if she remembers that. I was so tender headed, I hated to have my hair brushed.
And, Abby’s birthday is 3 days after mine and 1 day after Uncle Charlie’s.
